BoomGrow Productions Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian agritech company, has entered a strategic partnership with CelcomDigi Berhad to revolutionize Malaysia’s agricultural sector. The collaboration focuses on integrating 5G connectivity, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Extended Reality (XR) into precision farming technology. This partnership aims to adopt cutting-edge technologies to boost sustainable farming practices and improve food production across the country.
Under the agreement, CelcomDigi will provide its 5G network, backed by ZTE, to enhance the operational efficiency of BoomGrow’s Machine Farms. By utilizing AI and XR, the farms will benefit from real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and precise environmental controls, which are expected to optimize crop yields and resource management. A centralized dashboard will consolidate data from all Machine Farms nationwide, enabling seamless oversight and leveraging CelcomDigi’s extensive 5G network for reliable connectivity. BoomGrow and CelcomDigi are advancing three key innovations in agritech: 5G-powered precision farming, AI-driven data analytics for enhanced farm management, and XR-based training for agronomists.
BoomGrow’s Machine Farms, housed in 45-foot containers, are designed as vertical farms capable of producing between 500 kg and 700 kg of vegetables each month. These farms provide a yield equivalent to an acre of traditional outdoor farming, with the added benefit of fresher, better-tasting produce. The produce is supplied to restaurants in nearby malls and hotels, offering a sustainable solution that can feed more people efficiently. Several BoomGrow Machine Farms have been set up across Malaysia and the Philippines. BoomGrow is one of 40 pioneering partners at CelcomDigi’s AI Experience Centre (AiX), aimed at driving 5G and AI adoption across industries. This collaboration reflects both companies’ commitment to accelerating Malaysia’s digital transformation and supporting the growth of the local startup ecosystem.
