Nitori Holdings Co., Ltd., headquartered in Sapporo, northern Japan, has revealed plans to open an inaugural store in Indonesia. The goal is to speed up further store openings across the Asian market. The first Indonesian store is set to debut in July at Central Park Mall, one of Jakarta’s largest shopping centers.
The Group has established 828 stores in Japan and an additional 184 stores internationally, including locations in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines, bringing the total number of stores to 1,012. Due to anticipated substantial growth in the Asian market, expanding its store network through accelerated openings has been identified as a top priority.
Indonesia’s retail sector has been rapidly expanding within Asia, making up over 10% of the country’s GDP. With a population exceeding 270 million, a burgeoning middle class with increased purchasing power, and a trend of higher spending among millennials, Indonesia presents substantial opportunities in the retail market. Recent figures show that the retail market’s sales value surpasses USD 100 billion and is projected to reach approximately USD 243 billion by 2026.
Nitori’s strategy to penetrate the Indonesian market focuses on three main aspects. Firstly, they are expanding their network of retail stores throughout key locations. Secondly, they aim to offer high-quality products at competitive prices. Thirdly, they prioritize customer service to enhance consumer satisfaction.
