Thai government agencies have just revealed that they are cooperating in an effort to enhance public health and medical services. As part of the initiative, Thailand will see the establishment of a centralized system where patient information can be stored and shared between facilities.
The National Reform Committee on Public Health is partnering with 12 public agencies. According to Thailand’s government, these efforts will help drive the development of the country’s public health system via Big Data storage, with data stored and shared interchangeably.
Around 100 Thai hospitals are currently part of this network, and their medical records can be exchanged between physicians to provide better care for patients. This system is meant to help enhance health security and support Thailand’s response to Covid-19 outbreaks. The Ministry of Health has also established datalinks with a further 800 hospitals nationwide to help improve services provided to emergency and chronic patients in a more efficient manner.
Toward the end of March 2022, it was announced that Thailand’s National Health Security Office partnered with a Thai state-owned telecommunications company and Bitkub World Tech, to develop a platform that integrates the country’s various health services. Bitkub World Tech is a joint venture by cryptocurrency exchange Bitkub and the Thongtang Group. It will help develop digital health IDs and run the health platform on blockchain.
