Swiss Company’s Sustainable Carton Bottle for On-the-Go Beverages Launches in Thailand

May 2025

Thai manufacturer Ampol Food has introduced its V-FIT rice-based nutritional drink in Thailand using the DomeMini carton bottle developed by Swiss company SIG. This marks the first use of the DomeMini packaging solution in the Thai market. The carton bottle is designed to combine the convenience of a plastic bottle with the environmental benefits of paper-based packaging.

The DomeMini is primarily made from paperboard certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and produced using renewable electricity. Its compact and lightweight design aims to reduce environmental impact when compared to traditional single-use plastic bottles. The packaging also reflects a rising interest among Thai consumers in eco-friendly products.

The DomeMini features a centrally placed, reclosable cap that allows for convenient, direct consumption, catering to on-the-go lifestyles. Its distinctive design is intended to help the product stand out on retail shelves.

Ampol Food’s adoption of this packaging aligns with the company’s effort to support more sustainable practices while maintaining consumer convenience. The switch to DomeMini represents a step toward more responsible packaging in the Thai beverage market.

The SIG DomeMini 12 Aseptic filling system can process up to 12,000 units per hour and supports various volume sizes ranging from 180ml to 350ml. Switching between sizes takes approximately 15 minutes, offering production flexibility.

The growing market for on-the-go beverages in Thailand has created demand for alternative packaging solutions with reduced plastic content. DomeMini aligns with broader packaging trends focused on paper-based alternatives and positions itself as a viable option for beverage producers seeking to improve sustainability in their operations.
