Islamic Services of America Expands Global Halal Presence to Indonesia

July 2025

Islamic Services of America (ISA), a U.S.-based pioneer in Halal certification since 1975, strengthened its international presence by signing a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) in May. The agreement, formalized at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, D.C., underscores ISA’s commitment to upholding Halal standards and promoting the export of U.S.-Halal-certified beef and other products to the Indonesian market.

The strategic partnership is designed to strengthen bilateral cooperation by ensuring that U.S. exports, especially beef and consumer goods, meet both Indonesian and internationally recognized Halal standards. Additionally, it supports Indonesia’s food security goals and promotes the development of transparent, accountable, and credible Halal certification systems.

As a founding member of the World Halal Food Council, ISA continues to play a leading role in shaping international Halal standards. Its global credibility is reinforced by accreditations and formal recognition from key Halal authorities, including Indonesia’s BPJPH, Malaysia’s JAKIM, and Singapore’s MUIS. This strong Halal collaboration aligns with the U.S. Government’s “Farmers First” initiative, which aims to boost domestic job creation and expand infrastructure—particularly in rural and agricultural regions—through USDA grant and loan programs that support small and midsize farms and businesses.

For over 50 years, Islamic Services of America (ISA) has played a leading role in Halal certification, serving a diverse range of clients across North America and internationally. Its new partnership with Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) further strengthens ISA’s position in supporting global trade and addressing the growing demands of the international Halal market.
