Equinix, Inc., a global digital infrastructure company, has entered the Philippine market through the acquisition of three data centers in Manila—MN1, MN2, and MN3—from local provider Total Information Management (TIM). This marks Equinix’s latest expansion in Southeast Asia, strengthening its regional presence alongside operations in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
The newly acquired carrier-neutral facilities offer more than 1,000 cabinets of capacity and host several of Manila’s key internet exchanges, enabling immediate connectivity for customers. MN2 alone provides 500 cabinets, with additional land available for future expansion.
This move comes as the Philippines’ digital economy hit USD 45 billion in 2024, accounting for 8.5% of the country’s GDP. The rapid growth is driven by increased digital adoption, advances in cloud computing, and national initiatives like the National Broadband Plan, which are boosting demand for reliable digital infrastructure.
Equinix’s entry into the Philippines offers local and international enterprises access to its global platform, which now includes over 270 data centers in 75 metropolitan areas across 35 countries. In the Asia-Pacific region, Equinix operates 63 data centers in 17 metros.
According to Cyrus Adaggra, President of Equinix Asia-Pacific, the expansion supports customers scaling operations in a dynamic digital economy. “We’re committed to empowering the Philippines with world-class infrastructure to support cloud, AI, and other advanced technologies in line with the government’s digital ambitions,” he said.
