Central Retail has launched its first standalone supermarket under the Tops Market brand on Pattanakarn 30 in eastern Bangkok. The company invested approximately 100 million baht (around 2.8 million USD) in the project. This move aims to expand Tops Market’s reach and respond to growing consumer demand in the area.
The new store is designed as a neighborhood supermarket, offering a wide selection of fresh food, daily essentials, and health-focused products. The format reflects a shift in retail strategy to meet changing shopping behaviors, especially among urban consumers seeking convenience and quality in a single location.
Spanning over 1,000 square meters, the store features sections for organic and plant-based products, ready-to-eat meals, and imported goods. It also integrates digital solutions such as mobile payments and personalized promotions through the Tops Club and Central App platforms.
According to Central Retail executives, the store on Pattanakarn 30 serves as a model for future standalone supermarkets under the Tops brand. The company plans to use this format to expand into high-potential neighborhoods across Bangkok and other urban areas in Thailand.
The investment aligns with Central Retail’s broader strategy to strengthen its food business and diversify its retail formats. The company expects the standalone model to complement its existing presence in shopping malls and mixed-use developments, helping it to meet localized needs and remain competitive in the evolving retail landscape.
