The Government of Canada has committed over PHP 1 billion (USD 22 million) in grant financing to strengthen climate adaptation and disaster resilience in the Philippines. The funding was announced at the Philippines-Canada Partnership Forum.
Canadian Ambassador David Hartman emphasized that the initiative reflects the growing depth of bilateral ties, with support focused on ecosystem restoration, disaster preparedness, water resource management, and nature-based solutions in vulnerable communities.
The financing will be implemented in partnership with national and local governments, civil society, and the private sector, aligned with the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028. It also prioritizes addressing the impacts of climate change on women, girls, and Indigenous Peoples across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
