Evonik Opens Asia’s First Net-Zero Alkoxides Plant in Singapore to Power Regional Growth

September 2025

Evonik has opened Asia’s first large-scale alkoxides production facility on Singapore’s Jurong Island, marking a major expansion of its specialty chemicals footprint in the region. Built with an annual capacity of about 100,000 metric tons, the plant is part of a mid–double-digit million-euro investment and complements Evonik’s existing alkoxides network in Germany, the United States, and Argentina.

The Singapore facility is designed for net-zero Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions, reflecting Evonik’s global push for sustainability. Alkoxides are critical catalysts used in producing biodiesel, pharmaceuticals, and chemical recycling materials, making the plant an important node for industries seeking low-carbon supply chains.

By locating this world-scale operation in Singapore, Evonik aims to strengthen supply security and shorten delivery times for customers across Asia. The project supports Singapore’s ambition to remain a leading specialty chemicals and advanced manufacturing hub, while helping downstream sectors transition to cleaner, more efficient production.

This investment not only expands Evonik’s market reach but also highlights Singapore’s role as a strategic base for sustainable industrial innovation, reinforcing the city-state’s commitment to green growth and resilient chemical supply networks.
