EDGE Group, a prominent advanced technology and defence conglomerate based in the UAE, has entered into a major cooperation agreement with Republikorp, Indonesia’s leading defence holding company. Signed during the Dubai Airshow 2025, the deal is valued at USD 7 billion (IDR 118.4 trillion) and encompasses technology transfer, localised production, co-development projects, and a broad modernisation programme for the Indonesian Armed Forces. This initiative, financed and procured through the UAE, aims to elevate Indonesia’s defence capabilities, foster technological independence, and integrate advanced systems such as the SKYKNIGHT air defence missile system, next-generation infantry fighting vehicles, unmanned stealth missile boats, cyber defence solutions, and small arms ammunition production.
Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE, highlighted the agreement as a pivotal milestone in the company’s global expansion, emphasizing its role in building a self-sustaining defence ecosystem for Indonesia in collaboration with Republikorp. Norman Joesoef, Group Chairman of Republikorp, described the partnership as a crucial advancement toward Indonesia’s defence autonomy, industrial self-reliance, and enhanced international standing. The collaboration positions Indonesia within the UAE’s extensive global supply chain, promoting long-term strategic benefits.
The partnership holds substantial implications for Indonesia’s defence manufacturing landscape, driving self-reliance through localised production and technology integration while bolstering national security amid regional dynamics.
