MR. D.I.Y Indonesia Celebrates 1,200th Store Opening

MR. D.I.Y Indonesia, the local arm of the Malaysia-based home improvement retailer, has marked a significant expansion milestone with the opening of its 1,200th store in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara, reinforcing its rapid national growth strategy and commitment to serving customers across the Indonesian archipelago. The latest store underscores the company’s strategic focus on expanding beyond major urban centres into emerging regional markets with strong economic potential.

The new outlet in Sumbawa is the company’s fourth in the regency and 23rd in West Nusa Tenggara, selected for its rising household consumption and projected economic growth of around 5.15% by 2026. MR. D.I.Y Indonesia’s network now spans 422 out of 516 cities and regencies nationwide, reflecting a broad retail footprint aimed at making affordable, comprehensive household products more accessible to consumers in both urban and more remote areas.

Leadership credited disciplined strategy, data-driven market analysis, and local partnerships for the robust pace of expansion, with the retailer opening its first 400 stores between 2017 and 2022 and adding another 800 from 2023 to 2025. The company also maintains a uniform pricing policy across its nationwide outlets to ensure consistent value for customers, regardless of location.

To celebrate this milestone, MR. D.I.Y Indonesia launched a customer appreciation program, offering prizes including cars, motorcycles, and mobile phones with a minimum purchase, available at stores across the country. Company executives reiterated their commitment to supporting regional economic activity, creating jobs, and enhancing modern retail access for Indonesian families as the retailer continues its rapid growth journey.
