RGE and TotalEnergies, through their jointly owned venture Singa Renewables (Singa), have signed a Co-Investment Agreement to develop, construct, and operate a utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant with an integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) in Riau Province, Indonesia. The project will be implemented in multiple phases.
The Co-Investment Agreement between RGE and TotalEnergies was formally signed last May at the Presidential Palace and announced in the presence of the Presidents of Indonesia and France, highlighting the project’s importance and the strong governmental support from both nations.
The Managing Director of RGE stated that the company is making significant efforts to enhance regional connectivity and support the acceleration of the energy transition in the region. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies’ President for Asia and Executive Committee member emphasized that the utility-scale project reflects the company’s commitment to advancing the region’s energy transition while maintaining energy security.
Once completed, the project will supply substantial green energy for domestic use, helping power green industrial complexes in Riau Province and supporting Indonesia’s goals for economic growth and decarbonization of key sectors. Additionally, it will export clean solar energy to Singapore, strengthening regional energy cooperation and advancing renewable energy initiatives.
The project aims to establish Indonesia as a global hub for renewable energy by creating skilled jobs in areas such as renewables, battery energy storage systems (BESS), engineering, and grid integration. It also seeks to strengthen Indonesia’s solar and energy storage supply chains while supporting broader ASEAN goals for cross-border clean energy collaboration and regional energy integration.
