Italian packaging company Mainetti has inaugurated a new factory in Hung Yen Province, Vietnam, located in Minh Quang Industrial Park. The move marks a significant step in Mainetti’s expansion into Southeast Asia, aiming to deliver flexible packaging solutions to regional customers and tap into a dynamic market.
The 5,000-square-meter facility will employ 200 workers at full capacity and is projected to produce up to 3,000 metric tons of bags annually, equivalent to approximately 360 million bags. Most components will be made from recycled materials, supporting carbon emission reduction, while high-speed, high-efficiency machinery enables large-scale production.
The factory will feature automated grip and stacking fixtures that allow operators to multitask, along with real-time display panels showing hourly output and production settings.
“We are proud to expand into Vietnam’s Hung Yen Province, which will allow us to deliver responsible plastic packaging to our customers. Vietnam is a rapidly growing market, and we look forward to the facility operating at full capacity to serve key clients such as Gap, Columbia Sportswear, Lululemon, and Amazon, while unlocking new opportunities in the region,” said Michelle Boon, Global Head of Flexible Packaging at Mainetti.
Asia is a key business hub for Mainetti. This Vietnam investment follows the company’s expansion in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in February 2024 and forms part of its five-year growth plan to scale Mainetti Polyloop, a closed-loop recycling system for clear polyethylene film. The Vietnam facility prioritizes speed and efficiency through 10-meter-tall blowing machines and combined steel-line structures that optimize operator workflow and space utilization.
