The Ministry of Defence (MOD) of Malaysia signed seven procurement and industrial collaboration program contracts worth MYR 3.67 billion (USD 888 million) at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2019 (LIMA’19). These were mainly procurement contracts for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for existing strategic defense assets.
One of the biggest deals was Airod Sdn Bhd’s maintenance contract for the combined maintenance of the Royal Malaysian Air Force’s (RMAF) VIP/VVIP aircraft, consisting of Falcon 900, Global Express and BlackHawk S70A. Airod was also awarded a contract for maintenance, overhaul, testing, calibration, repair, defect rectification, modification of articles, technical assistance, fabrication and supply of materials for government aircraft and equipment, RMAF Hawk MK108/208, RMAF C130 aircraft and equipment.
Other contracts included agreements with Global Komited Sdn Bhd for the supply, delivery and commission of Starstreak Air Defence System; Boustead DCNS Naval Corporation Sdn Bhd for the refit of the Royal Malaysian Navy’s two Prime Minister class submarines; Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace for the provision of surface-to-surface missile launching systems and related services for the RMN’s second generation patrol vessels with littoral combat ship capability; Zetro Sdn Bhd for the maintenance and recovery of air traffic control radar systems; Qiblatin Synergy Sdn Bhd for the supply of high explosive 30mm rounds and tracer rounds and target practice 30mm rounds and tracer rounds for the RMN (Royal Malaysian Navy); and with Kongsberg for the supply of the missiles.
