Malaysian Telcos Partner with ZTE to Demonstrate Advanced 5G and AI Technologies

April 2024

Two major Malaysian telecommunication companies, CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) and U Mobile Sdn Bhd (U Mobile), have joined forces with ZTE Corporation, a global leader in information and communication technology solutions, to showcase the capabilities of advanced 5G technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital solutions through a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The collaboration will involve 5G field trials in Sarawak, demonstrating the real-time applications of 5G-A technology. These trials will focus on delivering an enhanced customer experience with seamless connectivity, utilizing 5G carrier aggregation solutions like Automatic Antenna Pattern Control (AAPC) and AAU Hibernation. Additionally, the trials will explore other 5G technologies such as mmWave, Dynamic Frame Scheduling (DIS Solution), and Fusion Assisting Super TDD (FAST Solution) to achieve faster 5G speeds alongside a Native-AI Intelligent RAN for optimized network and streaming management.

This strategic partnership empowers local providers to develop and deploy cutting-edge 5G technologies while also testing new use cases across both consumer and enterprise segments, ultimately enhancing digital experiences. As Malaysia strives to bolster its digital ecosystem, this collaboration holds the potential to unlock substantial value in 5G connectivity and solutions, offering significant benefits for the nation’s technological advancement.
