NTT DATA and Kajima Unveil KPI-Driven Smart Building at Singapore’s GEAR Hub

September 2025

NTT DATA has teamed up with Kajima to transform The GEAR, Kajima’s regional headquarters and R&D hub in Singapore, into a model of KPI-driven smart building management. The project integrates more than 8,700 data points gathered from over 2,000 sensors, unifying previously fragmented building systems so managers can track and improve performance in real time.

The solution combines NTT DATA’s network infrastructure, IoT platform, and consulting services to automate operations and streamline data flow. Facility teams gain faster, insight-based decision-making, while occupants benefit from remote monitoring and personalized controls that enhance comfort. Intelligent energy-management tools help cut costs and reduce manual intervention.

Sustainability is central to the initiative. The GEAR already carries Singapore’s BCA Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy (SLE) certification, and the new technologies reinforce that status by optimizing energy use and supporting long-term resource efficiency. Efficient cybersecurity measures protect the large ecosystem of connected devices and data streams.

By positioning The GEAR as a living laboratory for advanced infrastructure, Kajima demonstrates its commitment to reshaping the built environment. For NTT DATA, the partnership showcases its ability to deliver integrated, scalable smart-building solutions that improve efficiency, support sustainability goals, and set a benchmark for future developments across Singapore and beyond.
