Petronas, the Malaysian State Owned Enterprise (SOE) recently achieved its first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) drop at its floating LNG facility, PLFING Satu, at the Kebabangan Cluster field 90 kilometers off the cost of Sabah. Kebabangan field is the second location for PFLNG Satu after its successful operation in Kanowit field, Sarawak, where previously in April 2017, Petronas the world’s first LNG production at a floating LNG platform.
The PFLNG Satu is designed for a water depth between 70-200 meters and has a processing capacity of 1.2 million tons per year. Hosting some 155 crew onboard, the facility will support Petronas’ global LNG portfolio amidst fierce competition from new projects particularly in the United States.
The first LNG cargo delivery at the new field is anticipated in June 2019.
