BDx Data Centers, one of Asia’s fastest-growing data center providers, has announced the opening of its fifth data center in Indonesia, reinforcing its expansion in the region’s digital infrastructure sector. The new facility, CGK 3A, is in Southern Jakarta and represents a significant step in BDx’s broader strategy to develop multiple data centers across Indonesia. Over the next few years, the company plans to establish additional facilities in key cities such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Batam, Medan, Makassar, Bandung, and Semarang, with a total targeted capacity of 250 MW within the next two years.
As part of its ongoing expansion, BDx Data Centers has collaborated with the Association of Indonesia Internet Service Providers (APJII) to enhance the country’s digital ecosystem. This partnership supports Indonesia’s digital transformation goals, including the “Making Indonesia 4.0” initiative and the 2045 Digital Vision, which focuses on integrating advanced technologies such as cloud computing, IoT, and AI into the national economy.
The collaboration focuses on strengthening the Indonesia Internet Exchange (IIX) in Greater Jakarta by introducing a new IIX node at BDx’s CGK 3A campus. This strategic initiative aims to establish the facility as a key digital hub for internet traffic exchange, enhancing the resilience and efficiency of the region’s digital infrastructure through a carrier-neutral interconnection ecosystem.
The CGK 3A campus is specifically designed to support AI inferencing, fostering the development of advanced AI capabilities. The integration of the Indonesia Internet Exchange (IIX) within the facility will enhance high-speed, direct connectivity and peering opportunities, optimizing responsiveness and data exchange within AI-driven ecosystems.
Indonesia’s internet penetration reached 79.5% in 2024, according to an APJII survey driven by a tech-savvy and youthful population. The rapid expansion of e-commerce and government-led digital transformation initiatives highlight the increasing demand for reliable digital infrastructure to support the country’s growing digital economy.
