Sunsuria Partners with Chinese Corporations for Logistics Park and Automotive Technology

May 2019

Sunsuria Bhd, a Malaysian investment holding company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chinese logistics provider Sinotrans to explore setting up a smart logistics park in Malaysia, and a Strategic Cooperation Agreement (SCA) with IAT automobile Technology for the ASEAN automotive design and innovation center (AADIC).

Under the MOU with Sinotrans, the two firms will jointly set up and operate a smart logistics company and park in Malaysia aligned to China’s Belt and Road Initiative. The MOU will draw from Malaysia’s geographical location as a transport hub and upcoming projects such as the China-Malaysia Kuantan Industrial Park.

The SCA with IAT, a leading independent automotive design and engineering company, aims to develop a joint venture to establish the AADIC. The center is poised to be the main operations center to import electric vehicles from China and to obtain a car-sharing operations license in Malaysia, apart from R&D in automotive design and technology. Sunsuria City, Sunsuria’s flagship development will be the launchpad for the first fleet of 100 imported electric vehicles.

IAT will also explore partnerships with schools and entities to foster talent and services in the Malaysian automotive sector.
