Taiwan Electronic Component Manufacturer Opens USD 103 Million Advanced Facility in Malaysia

November 2025

Taiwanese electronic component manufacturing firm, Ichia Technologies has officially opened its second manufacturing facility in Malaysia, marking a major expansion of its operations within the Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP). The MYR 490 million (USD 103 million) investment strengthens Malaysia’s position in the global electronics and electrical (E&E) supply chain and is expected to generate around 600 high-skilled jobs.

The new plant will serve as a key production hub for printed circuit boards, assemblies, and components supporting both the automotive and telecommunications sectors. The facility spans more than 55,000 square meters on an 11-acre site, featuring automated production lines, IoT-enabled systems, and artificial intelligence capabilities aligned with Industry 4.0 standards. As Ichia’s second largest manufacturing base globally, the new plant is designed to enhance operational resilience amid global supply chain restructuring, while supporting rising demand from international customers. The company recorded over USD 311 million in revenue last year, underscoring its growing footprint in advanced component manufacturing.

State investment agencies highlighted the project as a boost to Kedah’s electronics ecosystem, with spillover benefits expected for local suppliers and talent development pipelines. The expansion aligns with Malaysia’s industrial modernization goals under national manufacturing transformation initiatives and reinforces the state’s strategy to attract high-value, sustainable manufacturing investments. The new facility positions Kedah as a critical node for next-generation E&E production, further strengthening the country’s appeal to global technology manufacturers.
