Thailand and Taiwan Collaborate to Advance Solar Energy Transition

November 2025

Thailand and Taiwan have launched a joint solar initiative aimed at powering more than 200,000 households of Thai government officials, marking a key milestone in regional cooperation on renewable energy. The project, titled “Solar Energy for Government Officials and Cooperative Members,” was officially introduced on October 3, 2025, by the Cooperative Association League for Thai Energy Development (TCTD). Fully funded by TCTD, the program demonstrates the growing role of community-based organizations in promoting sustainable energy solutions.

Energy Solutions Goal (ESG) serves as the project’s primary contractor, working in partnership with Taiwanese renewable energy companies, including Abeta Energy Group and Turncloud. ESG, a strategic partner of Abeta Energy Group in Southeast Asia, has established dedicated construction and maintenance teams in Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore to oversee the project’s implementation and ensure operational efficiency.

Representatives from Taiwan’s Executive Yuan attended the launch ceremony, emphasizing the expanding collaboration between Taiwan and Thailand in advancing clean energy initiatives. This cooperation aligns with Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy, which aims to strengthen economic and technological ties across the region while fostering sustainable growth.

With full financial backing from TCTD, the project is expected to help reduce electricity expenses for government officials’ households and encourage broader solar energy adoption in Thailand. It also highlights the importance of cross-border partnerships in accelerating the transition to renewable energy and supporting sustainable development goals in Southeast Asia.
