Vietnam Deepens AgriTech and Innovation Ties with Germany and Austria

June 2025

Vietnam is strengthening strategic partnerships with Germany and Austria to advance its agriculture and high-tech sectors, in line with its 2045 vision for a high-income, innovation-driven economy.

Last may, in Germany, Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Vietnamese Embassy attended a trade promotion forum that gathered nearly 50 German and Vietnamese companies. The event focused on enhancing collaboration in agriculture, forestry, and fishery, with discussions around building cold storage logistics, streamlining supply chains, and boosting market access through supermarkets and trade fairs.

At the same time, the Vietnam – Austria High-Tech & Innovation Forum took place in Vienna, featuring organizations such as UNIDO, Infineon, FPT, and VNPT. The forum explored joint opportunities in AI, semiconductors, quantum computing, biotech, and cybersecurity. Officials from both countries highlighted the importance of R&D centers, startup incubators, and talent development programs.

Vietnam is also seeing the rise of homegrown agri-tech startups such as Enfarm and Techcoop, which use AI and IoT to modernize farming. These developments are supported by public initiatives in climate-smart agriculture, including smart irrigation, solar-powered aquaculture, and cold-chain infrastructure.

Together, these efforts mark Vietnam’s growing role as a regional hub for technology-driven and sustainable agriculture, creating new avenues for European – Vietnamese collaboration.
