Orissa International carried out a comprehensive multi-country market research project on the blue catfish sector across Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The study combined in-depth desk research with primary research involving interviews with importers, distributors, retailers, producers, and industry associations, as well as on-the-ground store checks at supermarkets and wet markets. This approach provided detailed insights into production systems, consumption patterns, trade flows, regulatory frameworks, and competitive dynamics, while also capturing consumer-facing data such as pricing, product availability, and branding at retail. By integrating findings from both industry stakeholders and retail audits into the research, the project delivered a clear understanding of market opportunities and challenges across the five countries, enabling the client to evaluate demand potential, assess competitive positioning, and identify viable entry points into the regional market.
