South Korea’s KT Corp., in partnership with Thai IT firm Jasmine Technology Solution (JTS), has developed a large language model (LLM) platform specifically designed for the Thai market. The platform consists of a Thai-language LLM, a system for managing large language model operations (LLMOPs), and a GPU Farm—a network of high-performance servers used for intensive data processing.
This marks the first instance in which a South Korean company has created and implemented a full-scale generative AI infrastructure in a foreign country. The system supports the development, management, and expansion of AI services outside South Korea.
The Thai-focused LLM has been trained on extensive local datasets to enhance its ability to handle questions related to Thai politics, history, and culture. It is capable of processing Thai, English, and Korean languages.
KT collaborated with South Korean AI startup Upstage to develop the model, following its selection by JTS for the project in March 2023. That same year, KT invested approximately USD 7 million in Upstage to strengthen its AI capabilities.
JTS plans to offer GPU-as-a-Service solutions based on the new platform to Thai businesses and institutions, enabling broader access to AI infrastructure and services.
This project highlights KT’s expanding role in the global AI sector and its technical capacity to deliver localized AI solutions. The company has also signaled intentions to broaden its offerings through strategic partnerships with international firms such as Microsoft and Palantir, aiming to grow its presence in AI and cloud technologies.
