ADB-Backed Bataan-Cavite Bridge Set for Initial Construction Phase

June 2025

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that construction of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge will begin soon, with work on the land-based sections expected to start before July 2025. This includes two initial contract packages covering the Bataan and Cavite land approaches.

The 32.15-kilometre, USD 3.91 billion bridge project aims to connect Bataan and Cavite across Manila Bay, significantly improving regional connectivity and economic integration. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has committed USD 2.11 billion in financing, with the Philippine government contributing an additional USD 664.23 million.

The project is divided into six contract packages, covering land approaches, marine viaducts, and the bridge’s main cable-supported spans. Once completed, the bridge is expected to reduce travel time between Bataan and Cavite from five hours to less than an hour, supporting trade, logistics, and investment growth in Central Luzon and CALABARZON.
