Fujifilm Business Innovation Japan is expanding its sustainability efforts by establishing a Circular Manufacturing Center (CMC) at its Laguna factory in the Philippines. The facility, now under construction, will begin operations next year with the capacity to produce 5,000 remanufactured multifunction printers (MFPs) annually, making the country Fujifilm’s ASEAN hub for circular production.
The remanufacturing process involves disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of used printers, enabling the reuse of up to 84% of parts and cutting carbon emissions by 53% compared to new production. Unlike refurbished units, remanufactured printers are considered newly built with reset counters, new product names, and serial numbers.
The initiative supports Fujifilm’s Sustainable Value Plan 2030 and reduces emissions by eliminating the need to ship used printers back to Japan. Remanufactured printers, which have a five- to seven-year lifespan, can be cycled again, extending their service life while reducing waste.
PEZA Director General Tereso Panga welcomed the investment, calling it a milestone that strengthens Japan’s confidence in the Philippines’ investment climate and promotes sustainable, innovation-driven industrialization.
