Japanese Company Forms Sales Partnership with Yanmar Diesel Indonesia for Its Agricultural Drones

September 2025

Terra Drone Corporation, a Japan-based leader in drone and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) technology, has entered into a sales partnership with Yanmar Diesel Indonesia, a subsidiary of Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd. Through this agreement, Yanmar Diesel Indonesia will serve as the official distributor of Terra Drone’s proprietary agricultural drones in Indonesia, with the products made available to local farmers via Terra Drone’s regional subsidiary, Terra Drone Indonesia.

Yanmar Group, one of Japan’s leading agricultural machinery manufacturers, has built a solid presence in Indonesia through its extensive network of government agencies and agricultural stakeholders. By partnering with Yanmar, Terra Drone will harness this network to accelerate the adoption of its drone solutions and reach a wider audience across Indonesia’s agricultural sector.

Terra Drone has been providing drone-powered spraying services for pesticides and fertilizers in Indonesia’s oil palm plantations, which supply about 60% of the world’s palm oil. Utilizing its own spot-spraying technology, the company ensures the accurate and efficient treatment of specific areas, thereby enhancing cultivation and pest control.

In recognition of its contributions to agricultural innovation, Terra Drone was selected in February 2025 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries to lead a commissioned project promoting smart agriculture in Southeast Asia. Since then, the company has been actively demonstrating and implementing drone-based agricultural solutions in Indonesia. Further advancing this initiative, in May 2025, Terra Drone signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with two Indonesian universities to provide on-site drone training and foster job creation, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening the country’s drone industry.

Yanmar Diesel Indonesia, which signed the agreement with Terra Drone, functions as the Indonesian manufacturing hub of the Yanmar Group. As a global leader in agricultural and industrial machinery, the company manufactures and exports diesel engines, power tillers, and other agricultural equipment, supplying markets both domestically and worldwide.

Under the agreement, Terra Drone will partner with Yanmar Diesel Indonesia to expand the distribution of its proprietary agricultural drones to stakeholders across Indonesia, particularly rice farmers. The collaboration will cover the sale of Terra Drone’s high-performance models, the “G20” and “E16,” with approximately 120 units scheduled for delivery to Yanmar Diesel Indonesia in 2025, followed by local deployment.

Both drone models feature smart flight functions, including automated route planning, obstacle avoidance, and terrain following, which make them effective even in challenging environments such as terraced fields or hilly areas. They are also designed for convenience, featuring water- and dust-resistant designs, as well as a plug-in system that enables quick tank and battery replacement, ensuring smooth and reliable use in the field.
For Terra Drone, the agreement marks a significant milestone in broadening its agricultural drone operations in Indonesia, moving beyond palm oil plantations to include paddy rice and field crop cultivation. Building on its expertise in palm plantations, the company now offers solutions that extend beyond pesticide spraying for pest control, also to encompass seeding operations. Supported by its customer-focused development capabilities and responsive support system, Terra Drone is committed to enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of rice and field crop production.

In addition, Terra Drone will collaborate with the R&D team of Yanmar Diesel Indonesia and agricultural experts from an Indonesian university to develop a “direct seeding drone.” This technology supports a cultivation method in which seeds are sown directly into paddy fields, eliminating the need for transplanting seedlings. By leveraging Terra Drone’s spot spraying technology, the collaboration aims to create a high-performance drone capable of sowing seeds with precise interval control.

The project is expected to have only a negligible effect on Terra Drone’s consolidated financial performance for FY2025. Any future developments requiring disclosure will be announced promptly.
