October 2019

Hanoi will be receiving 18 air quality monitoring devices from the German Development Cooperation Organization (GIZ).

The sensors will be installed in Hoan Kiem district, the center of the city. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment will be the lead agency coordinating with GIZ, the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem district and other relevant agencies to manage, monitor and gather the data from the sensors.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment will also help configuring and calibrating the sensors to ensure consistency with the city’s other air quality monitoring stations.

Once completed and stable, air monitoring quality information will be made public on a dedicated website (http://moitruongthudo.vn), smartphone applications and electronic boards in public areas in Hoan Kiem district.

A total 11 air quality monitoring stations were installed in 2018 in Hanoi and the city is planning to add 95 more by 2020.
