Eagle Cement Corp will increase its cement production this year as it pursues to put up its fifth manufacturing facility in San Ildefonso, Bulacan. In a recent statement, Eagle president and chief executive officer Paul Ang said the company is spending PHP 1.5 billion (USD 30.5 million) for the construction of its Bulacan plant. The new mill will have a capacity of 1.5 million metric tons, increasing the company’s cement output to 8.6 million metric tons by the end of 2020.
Eagle currently has three production lines in its Bulacan cement plant, producing 7.1 million metric tons or 180 million bags annually. Its grinding and packaging facility in Limay, Bataan can process 12 million bags of cement in a year.
“In line with the government’s call to prioritize critical infrastructure projects that will help restart the economy, we have ramped up our production since we resumed commercial operations last month. Eagle is fully prepared to supply the steadily increasing demand for cement as more and more construction projects both in the public and private sectors open up,” Ang said. The company is expecting an improved outlook for construction activities in the country in the second half of the year.
