Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison has completed a core network consolidation project in Jakarta in collaboration with Huawei, a global ICT solution provider. This project aims to advance mobile communication technologies and is part of their ongoing partnership. With over 100 million users and 26 core locations across Indonesia, the transition to a cloud core network was achieved in 14 months.
The consolidation has improved network performance for Indosat users, particularly in rural and remote areas. For instance, users in Kalimantan have experienced a 15% increase in average download speeds and an 11% decrease in round trip time (RTT) when accessing Facebook. In Central Java, internet performance has also improved for gaming and live video streaming.
The implementation of cloud-native technology includes both bare metal container and dual-engine container solutions, facilitating the large-scale deployment of 5G core networks. The dual-engine solution allows for the integration of virtual machines (VMs) and containers, streamlining capacity expansion and reducing service rollout times.
As digital demands grow, Indosat aims to enhance user experience through intelligent core networks capable of adapting to the evolving 5G architecture. Indosat and Huawei plan to continue their partnership to develop a more efficient and secure mobile communication network in Indonesia, addressing industry challenges and fostering innovation in mobile technology.
