Japanese eVTOL manufacturer SkyDrive has entered into a strategic partnership with Indonesian helicopter operator Whitesky Aviation, aiming to advance eVTOL adoption in Indonesia and develop innovative business models to transform urban and industrial mobility.
Under the agreement, SkyDrive and Whitesky will collaborate to explore the deployment of the “SKYDRIVE” eVTOL aircraft across multiple applications. These include operations at Cengkareng Heliport, Whitesky’s facility, which is strategically located near Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, as well as potential uses in supporting Indonesia’s critical mining industry. As part of this initial commitment, Whitesky has placed a pre-order for up to 30 SKYDRIVE units, underscoring its ambition to spearhead the adoption of electric air mobility in Southeast Asia.
The partnership reflects SkyDrive’s commitment to global expansion, building on its ongoing initiatives in the United States, Asia, and the Middle East. Leveraging Whitesky’s extensive expertise in helicopter-based services—including charter operations, sightseeing, cargo transport, medical evacuation, and mining logistics—provides a strong platform for the integration of eVTOL technology into Indonesia’s aviation sector. The introduction of SkyDrive’s compact, zero-emission aircraft is anticipated to significantly alleviate urban traffic congestion, while also reducing environmental impact and improving connectivity to remote industrial regions.
Looking ahead, the two companies plan to introduce eVTOL sightseeing services in central Jakarta by the end of fiscal year 2028. To support scalable operations, Whitesky will spearhead the development of essential infrastructure through a superhub-and-spoke system designed to address Indonesia’s diverse geographic and industrial landscape. This initiative is expected to ensure the safe, efficient, and scalable deployment of eVTOL aircraft nationwide, establishing a strong foundation for the country’s next-generation air mobility.
As part of their long-term roadmap, SkyDrive and Whitesky are progressing toward finalizing a firm order agreement for the SKYDRIVE aircraft. This milestone will strengthen their strategic partnership and lay the foundation for commercial eVTOL operations in both urban centers and remote regions of Indonesia.
