Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad (MAHB), a public listed airport company that manages 39 airports nationwide has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Huawei Malaysia to drive its digital transformation framework under MAHB’s Airports 4.0 initiative. Airports 4.0 initiative is a digital transformation framework that would enable a fully integrated digital ecosystem using business intelligence and big data analytics (BDA) across the passenger journey.
The primary focus of the MOU was on the “Joint innovation on fully connected airport initiative” to strengthen the accessibility and efficiency via digitalization of airports operated by MAHB. Several initiatives include the study on the implementation wired network, Wi-Fi 6 technology, Digital Indoor Solution (DIS) 4G and future 5G technology use case in airports and IoT solutions for connectivity. Notably, it aims to establish a Fully Integrated Network Communication Managed platform to enable future big data analysis to further improving airport operation efficiency and reduce overall ICT cost.
As part of Huawei’s goal to leverage on its new ICT solutions and expertise to accelerate digital transformation of the aviation industry in Malaysia, Huawei’s President of Global Transportation Business Department Eman Liu stated that the company will incorporate the latest ICT technologies such as cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in order to provide a one-stop innovative ICT Infrastructure platform for future-oriented smart airports.
