Chinese healthcare ecosystem platform, Ping An Healthcare and Technology Company Limited (Ping An Good Doctor) has partnered with Thailand’s largest private healthcare group, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) to launch an overseas video consultation service for Chinese patients seeking second opinions.
The service will allow the users of Ping An Good Doctor to seek second Medical opinions via video consultations with top physicians in Thailand, through “face-to-face” consultation from the comfort of their home and offering them access to more diverse and comprehensive treatment. Thailand is renowned for its excellent and low cost Medical services, and is a major destination for healthcare tourism. In 2017, it attracted around 2 million international patients and earned USD1.5 billion in Medical tourism receipts.
At present, Chinese users can purchase the service from the “Overseas Top-Tier Doctors” on Ping An’s mobile application. After purchase, they can make appointments with doctors from BDMS. The doctors will study the patients’ Medical history before consultations and provide written opinions of targeted treatment according to their Medical history. Both parties will also launch overseas body examination service specially designed for Chinese users in the near term, after which Chinese users can make appointments for health check-ups through Ping An Good Doctor’s mobile application.
Founded in 1969, BDMS manages 48 hospitals in major cities and tourist spots across Thailand and Cambodia. These hospitals not only cover local residents but also serve patients from the United States, Europe, China, Japan, Korea and United Arab Emirates. BBMS’ hospital team comprises over 12,000 experienced doctors and over 8,000 nurses, including experts specializing in areas such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases and brain disorders. BDMS also has a Medical service center for Chinese patients and has established a professional Medical team including Medical experts, nurses, receptionists and Chinese interpreters, with proficiency in Chinese for Chinese patients.
Ping An Healthcare and Technology Company Limited offers a mobile platform for online consultation, hospital referral and appointment, health management, and wellness interaction services. It connects patients in China with health care resources. It has a user base exceeding 100 million.
