Singapore-Based Blue Planet Acquires Malaysian Industrial Waste Processing Company

September 2019

Singapore’s Blue Planet Environmental Solutions Pte Ltd has recently acquired Globecycle Holdings Sdn. Bhd., a waste management company specializing in handling industrial waste based in Malaysia. The acquisition now allows Blue Planet to expand its portfolio by offering sustainable solutions to manage both hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste.

Blue Planet will now be looking at exploring business opportunities in Malaysia and stretching its operational footprint, which presently covers the UK, Vietnam, India, and Singapore. Blue Planet founder and chairman Madhujeet Chimni said that the new acquisition will help the company to utilize the expertise of Globecycle team in industrial waste processing service. Blue Planet Director Bradley Chew added that this move would help to utilize and combine technologies to boost the implementation of circular economy and resource-efficient model of growth.

Headquartered in Penang, Globecycle is one of Malaysia’s largest waste management companies with fully integrated facilities to handle and process industrial waste. It is the second company to acquire the integrated secure landfill permit in Malaysia.

Blue Planet owns a portfolio of companies which offer a range of waste management solutions. Its strategic acquisitions include British electronic waste technology company, Smart Creative Technologies in July 2019; Yasasu EMS, an organic waste processing company based in Mumbai in December 2018; and Indian company, Rudra Environmental Solutions which has a thin film plastic waste recovery facility in October 2018. Blue Planet also owns Virtus Concrete which offers sustainable concrete blocks manufactured from 87% recycled materials and Xeon, which is headquartered in Pune, India and is the creator of EnergyBin, which is a state-of-the-art biogas plant that converts organic waste into gas or electricity.
