Singaporean Digital Infrastructure Company Partners with Indonesian Conglomerate to Build Data Center in Indonesia

April 2024

BW Digital, a subsidiary of the Singapore-based BW Group, and Citramas Group, an Indonesian conglomerate, have announced a partnership to develop a carrier-neutral digital ecosystem in Batam’s Nongsa Digital Park (NDP), Indonesia. This collaboration follows BW Digital’s purchase of over 55,000 square meters of land in Batam’s Nongsa Digital Park, owned by Citramas Group. It aims to establish BW Digital’s first data center in Southeast Asia, enhancing its digital infrastructure portfolio in the Asia-Pacific region.

The upcoming data center, boasting a capacity of up to 80 MW, will be tailored to accommodate demanding high-density needs. Offering scalability for enterprise, cloud, and AI tasks, it also aligns with clients’ ambitions for carbon neutrality and sustainability. BW Digital and Citramas Group, in collaboration, will provide a range of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) solutions within BW Digital’s facility.

Clients will benefit from an exclusive array of technological resources and services, encompassing landing infrastructure for new submarine cables, global and local connectivity, storage amenities, and computational capabilities tailored for artificial intelligence and machine learning implementations.

Foreign investment in Indonesia’s data center sector is accelerating, driven by the rapid expansion of the nation’s digital economy. Encouraged by the promising growth prospects, multinational cloud service providers are drawn to Indonesia’s data center industry, projected by a Mordor Intelligence report to achieve a 14% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), increasing from USD 2.06 billion in 2023 to USD 3.98 billion in 2028.
