Sun Valley Launches Korean-style Snacks in Thailand

January 2024

Sun Valley, a leading exporter of ready-to-cook chicken products in Thailand part of Cargill, recently launched two new offerings to the market under the concept of “Snack Wow, Very Delicious” with the “Chicken Cheese Balls” and “Chicken Mini Corn Dogs”.

Drawing inspiration from the ever-popular Korean-style snacks such as cheese balls and corn dogs, these products are designed to meet Thai consumers’ nutritional standards while also appealing to local tastes. A recent report has highlighted that 81% of Thai consumers say they are willing to pay more for food products with a higher quality. Additionally, there has been continued growth in the Ready-to-Cook (RTC) deep-fried chicken products market. This growth can be attributed to several factors, including the pandemic, the rise of the urban population, and the emergence of the cook-from-home trend. The trend also presents a growing demand for innovative snack offerings that cater to the nuanced preferences of the Thai market while aligning with the growing inclination towards the ‘Home Economy’ trend and ‘Cook from Home’ consumer behavior.

According to the Managing Director of Cargill Meats Thailand, Thai consumers cherish snacks that complement their main dishes, create moments of relaxation, and foster fun and casual gatherings. Thailand has consistently ranked among the top 5 countries for snack and processed chicken products, with a robust CAGR of +5.5% from 2018 to 2022.
