Swiss aviation services company Swissport International AG has been selected by Vietnamese low-cost carrier Vietjet Air to provide a wide range of airport ground services. Swissport will also support and advise Vietjet Air in developing advanced air cargo handling services as well as managing air cargo centers according to international standards.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Swissport International AG and Vietjet Air was signed at the Vietnam-Australia Business Forum in Melbourne, Australia. Attending the event were the Prime Minister of Vietnam, the Australian Assistant Minister for Trade and Manufacturing, and the Premier of the Australian state of Victoria.
Swissport expected to work with Vietjet Air to identify strategic opportunities and investments in ground handling, cargo services and terminal infrastructure. The MoU is a testament to the continued growth in the region. Swissport targets to expand partnerships beyond Australia, Japan and Korea where the company currently operates, and become Vietjet Air’s preferred partner globally.
With a fleet of over 100 aircraft, Vietjet Air serves a network of more than 120 destinations across Vietnam and throughout Asia. Vietjet Air also develops and provides aviation services, especially air cargo and ground services.
Meanwhile, Swissport International AG provided airport ground services for some 232 million airline passengers and handled roughly 4.7 million tons of air freight at 115 air cargo centers worldwide in 2023.
