Vietnam’s Ministry of Transportation recently ed a delegation on an official trip to France to enhance collaboration across various transportation sectors.

The Vietnamese delegation held meetings with the French Minister responsible for transportation, as well as with agencies under the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, and representatives from the Airbus Group.

At the meeting, Vietnam emphasized the significance of transport cooperation, encompassing air, rail, maritime, and road transport, as a longstanding priority for both nations. The country pledged to facilitate French access to its ports for large vessels, expand international shipping routes to key ports, and strengthen railway cooperation.

Additionally, the two countries agreed to review past agreements to align them with current needs, particularly focusing on technology, green port development, and reducing CO2 emissions.

The French representatives also expressed interest in Vietnam’s efficient seaport model and hoped for deeper maritime trade ties. France, experienced in road development, pledged support for Vietnam’s North-South Expressway project.

The Vietnamese Minister highlighted Vietnam’s infrastructure development priorities, especially the Eastern section of the North-South Expressway, and expressed interest in France’s expertise in managing urban transportation. The high-speed railway and expressway developmen also attracted interests from French investors.

To strengthen air transport ties, discussions were held with representatives from Airbus. Vietnam expressed hope for expanded collaboration in aerospace and aviation-related fields. The Minister assured ongoing support from the Vietnamese government to facilitate Airbus’s projects and programs in the country.
