Hoa Phat multipurpose port company has received approval from the Dung Quat Economic Zone (EZ) and Quang Ngai Industrial Parks (IPs) Authority to construct a large port complex in the province of Quang Ngai in Vietnam.
Costing more than USD 162 million, the project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will see the construction of a 300 meter wharf able to accommodate vessels weighing 50,000 DWT along with supporting facilities to meet import and export demand of companies operating in the region. The second phase, set between 2021 – 2024 consists of the development of two wharves with a combined length of 450 meters.
Industrial Parks in the Economic Zone and Quang Nai have attracted 18 projects at a total investment of more than USD 458 million between January – June 2019. This latest project has brought the number of investment projects in the region to 320 at USD 12.37 billion. 57 of these projects were funded by foreign investors, the remainder realized with domestic funding. 154 projects have already started operating, creating job opportunities for nearly 39,000 laborers.
