Alabama-based Pursell Agri-Tech has joined forces with Wastech Group, a Malaysian leader in integrated agricultural and landscaping solutions, to establish a fertilizer coating facility in Port Klang, Malaysia focused on producing advanced controlled-release fertilizers (CRFs). This partnership is designed to deliver sustainable fertilizer products that will revolutionize agricultural practices throughout Malaysia and the wider Southeast Asian region.
Choosing Malaysia for the facility is strategic, given its proximity to key substrate and material suppliers, enabling the joint venture to meet the diverse nutritional requirements of customers in a reliable, targeted, and profitable manner. Beyond serving the Malaysian market, the facility will address rising demand in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Japan, regions that increasingly prioritize sustainable farming methods and advanced fertilizer technologies. By integrating Pursell’s precision nutrient delivery technology with Wastech’s agronomic expertise and market knowledge, this collaboration seeks to boost agricultural productivity, efficiency, and sustainability across these important markets. Additionally, the partnership includes collaborations with regional machinery and technology providers Huntsman and Eirich Machines.
With a heritage spanning over 100 years, Pursell Agri-Tech has been at the forefront of developing polymer-coated fertilizers that enhance nutrient efficiency and minimize environmental impact. CRFs represent a significant advancement in sustainable agriculture by ensuring steady nutrient supply and minimizing waste. This collaboration reflects a mutual commitment to sustainability by tackling nutrient runoff and promoting soil health. It also positions Malaysia as a critical hub for exporting innovative agricultural technologies throughout Southeast Asia, strengthening the region’s competitive edge in global agriculture. The new facility is expected to generate employment opportunities, stimulate the local economy, and foster talent development by offering training and career pathways within the sustainable agriculture sector.
