Vietnam’s Minister of Planning and Investment (MPI) led a Vietnamese delegation to Germany and the Netherlands in February 2023 to enhance cooperation in smart agriculture and innovation. At the Netherlands-based World Horti Center (WHC), the Minister discussed the construction of a horticulture center in northern Vietnam and proposed that the WHC share experiences and initiate technology transfer with Vietnam.
The visit resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Netherlands-Vietnam Horti Business Platform and the MPI’s Enterprise Development Agency to empower Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises and enhance cooperation in the horticulture sector.
In Germany, the Minister worked with the Director of the German Agribusiness Alliance (GAA) to encourage the union to invest in Vietnam and assist Vietnamese agricultural firms in strengthening their competitiveness. The GAA emphasized the importance of developing and improving the value chain for Vietnamese agricultural products to compete effectively in Europe.
The GAA and German companies expressed their dedication to supporting Vietnamese companies in the agricultural sector. The German side will invite Vietnamese firms to Germany to share experiences about the technological transition and agricultural models, strengthening the mutual understanding and collaboration between the two countries.
