Vietnam’s Telehealth Network Connects 1,000 Medical Facilities

October 2020

After more than two months of piloting, Vietnam’s Ministry of Health officially opened a network connecting 1,000 medical examination and treatment facilities with 27 central hospitals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The new telehealth network is part of an effort to provide healthcare services to Vietnamese people living in remote areas of the country.

The Prime Minister also asked the health sector to further expand the remote healthcare network to more than 14,000 health facilities across the country to achieve universal health coverage, as well as to integrate the network with other countries’ healthcare networks worldwide.

According to the health ministry, there are currently 1,400 public hospitals and 275 private medical facilities, 30,000 general clinics, 11,500 commune and ward health stations providing medical examination and treatment services in the country.
