CCEP Indonesia and Dynapack Asia Inaugurate PET Recycling Plant

March 2023

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) Indonesia and Dynapack Asia, a leading manufacturer of rigid plastic packaging and components, have unveiled the Amandina Bumi Nusantara Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Recycling Plant in Bekasi, West Java.

The two companies also established the Mahija Parahita Nusantara non-governmental organization, or the Mahija Foundation, which supplies plastic bottles as feedstock to the Amandina facility. The Amandina Bumi Nusantara plant, with the foundation’s plastic feedstock, can generate up to 25,000 tonnes of rPET per year for an investment of IDR 556.2 billion (USD 37 million).

The integrated closed-loop rPET production at Mahija-Amandina will help minimize virgin plastic, the main raw material for bottle packaging and virgin waste. It will also greatly help reduce carbon emissions from PET manufacturing using virgin plastic, another target established by the Indonesian government.

This is a significant breakthrough in the two companies’ initiatives to promote sustainable plastics usage. The facility will support Dynapack Asia’s global aim to employ at least 25% recycled resin in its packaging products by 2025. Meanwhile, CCEP Indonesia has set an ambitious waste management target, which seeks to incorporate rPET plastics into 50% of its materials by 2025.
