The joint venture between Spanish company, ACCIONA Agua and French firm, VINCI Construction Grands Projets has won a contract for the design-build portion of the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe wastewater treatment plant – phase 1, in Ho Chi Minh City.
The wastewater treatment plant is projected to have a peak capacity of 34,000 cubic meters per hour. The construction will include a pumping station, systems for biological treatment, disinfection, sludge treatment, and odor treatment as well as connection to the city’s sewage system. The contract is set to be completed in five years, followed by another five-year period of operation and maintenance.
The wastewater treatment plant worth VND 5.2 trillion (USD 223 million) is sponsored by the World Bank. Besides improving the water quality of Ho Chi Minh City, the project also creates jobs for 800 local laborer at peak periods. Also, nearly 25,000 hours of training are planned to ensure safety at the worksite.
