Hitachi Energy Inaugurates New Transformers Factory in Vietnam

January 2024

Hitachi Energy recently inaugurated a new transformers factory in Bac Ninh province of Vietnam. The new facility specializes in liquid-filled power and distribution transformers. It is set to nearly double the Hitachi’s previous factory’s annual capacity while adhering to the most stringent global standards. This expansion is part of a strategy aimed at targeting utilities, industries, and infrastructure sectors across the Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa, allowing them to enhance transformer asset performance while minimizing environmental impact.

The Bac Ninh Transformers factory employs more than 500 people to support the social and economic progress of the local community. The company is also committed to sustainability with the factory receiving the LEED Gold certification*2, with the use of 100% fossil-free electricity in its operations and has designed following environmentally responsible measures such as high Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) roof materials, rainwater harvesting, wastewater recycling, and indoor air quality monitoring with CO2 sensors.

During the last three decades, Hitachi Energy has played an important  role in supporting Vietnam’s infrastructure and industry, contributing to the country’s energy transformation by integrating more than 30% of its renewable energy into the grid.
