PepsiCo to Construct USD 90-million Snack Plant in Vietnam

January 2024

PepsiCo, Inc. has announced ambitious plans to invest USD 90 million in the construction of a snack plant in Ha Nam Province of Vietnam. The new facility, which will occupy 80,000 square meters overall, will be constructed at the Dong Van I Expanded Industrial Park. It is expected to supply more than 23,000 tons of PepsiCo snacks per year to Vietnam and Cambodia.

The construction is scheduled to begin in early 2024 and be completed by the second half of 2025. The beverage and snack giant, known for its Doritos brand, currently employs approximately 13,000 individuals across its 14 plants and distribution centers in Vietnam.

The company stated that it is also investing to source ingredients in Ha Nam and other Vietnamese provinces, and that it will expand its potato contracting system with the adoption of “regenerative agro practice and digital technology”.

In March 2023, PepsiCo introduced its Greenhouse accelerator program in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, marking the fourth geographic area where the US food and beverage giant launched this initiative. Originating in Europe in 2017 and subsequently expanding to North America a year later, the program is designed to support entrepreneurs whose products promote sustainability and the circular economy.

Under the Greenhouse accelerator, ten chosen applicants receive USD 20,000 and access to a business development program aimed at expediting the growth of their ventures. Successful start-ups benefit from interactions with PepsiCo executives, receiving guidance in areas such as corporate structuring, fundraising, product development, supply chain management, and customer acquisition throughout the program.
