In November 2022, Hyundai Motor Company signed a deal with PT Adaro Minerals Indonesia Tbk, to secure a stable supply of aluminum, a key material required for electric vehicle manufacturing. The collaboration marks Hyundai Motor’s commitment to accelerating the transition to sustainable energy, especially carbon neutralization.
This collaboration is at the same time to form a comprehensive cooperation system related to the production and supply of aluminum by AMI through its subsidiary PT Kalimantan Aluminium Industry (KAI), which will benefit both parties. The main points in this MoU cooperation include the production and supply of aluminum by KAI, the right for Hyundai Motor to purchase aluminum produced by KAI at an early stage, and the first negotiation rights for the purchase of low-carbon aluminum produced by KAI in the future.
Indonesia’s green aluminum is classified as low-carbon aluminum as hydroelectric power is used during production.
