Japan-Headquartered Ferrotec Holdings to Open Manufacturing Facility in Kedah

September 2022

Electronics components manufacturer Ferrotec Holdings Corporation has announced the construction of its new manufacturing facility in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah, following its revelation of choosing Malaysia as its base to expand its manufacturing facility last May. Facilitated by Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), the new manufacturing plant will be undertaking electromechanical assembly and advanced material fabrication for semiconductor equipment designed to meet global customer needs.

The plant is expected to begin its operation in 2023. With a total investment expected to exceed MYR 500 million (USD 109.21 million) and a facility of more than 800,000 square feet, the project is anticipated to create approximately 250 high-value jobs for Malaysians. As a tier 1 company supplying MNCs in the semiconductor industry, the company has committed to training Malaysian employees at its factories in Japan and the United States.

According to Eiji Miyanga, CEO of Ferrotec Manufacturing Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Ferrotec has seen increasing demand for its products and services in Asia. With this new production facility, the company expects to provide expanded capacity, improve business continuity for critical activities, and, most importantly, ensure that its customers recieve undisrupted supplies.
