KFC, the renown American fried chicken brand, has introduced its first kiosk model under the “quick and easy” concept at a bustling pier in Bangkok. Restaurants Development Co Ltd, a KFC franchise holder in Thailand, has launched its 296th branch at the Tha Wang Lang (Siriraj) pier in the Bangkok Noi district.
This new branch departs from the traditional full restaurant setup, opting instead for a streamlined kiosk. The kiosk features an automatic machine to take orders, eliminating the need for a cashier. Staff members prepare and hand out carry-away meals, and payments are entirely cashless, including convenient QR scan options. Open from 7am to 6pm, the kiosk offers breakfast along with a variety of hot and cold drinks.
Andrew Norton, CEO of Restaurants Development Co Ltd, stated that the Tha Wang Lang branch is part of their expansion strategy aimed at providing fast and convenient services to busy Bangkok residents. If successful, similar KFC kiosks will be established throughout the city.
In parallel, Central Restaurant Group (CRG), another major KFC franchise holder in Thailand, announced plans to launch “Grab & Go” KFC outlets in the third quarter of this year. These kiosks will be located at BTS and MRT stations as well as in various provinces.
Fried chicken is a significant business in Thailand, with annual sales exceeding a billion baht. KFC’s hot and spicy chicken and nuggets are so popular that similar recipes are commonly found at roadside stalls and weekend markets.
