In September 2021, Universal Scientific Industrial Co., Ltd. (USI) announced that it had completed the first phase for the construction of its new manufacturing base in Vietnam. The company is a member of ASE Technology Holding, a Taiwan-based world-leading provider of semiconductor manufacturing assembly and testing services for brand owners.
The new facility is the first base of USI in Southeast Asia, located in the DEEP C Haiphong I Industrial Zone (IZ) in the North of Vietnam. The 18,000-square-metre plant will begin operations in July 2022, with a focus on module manufacturing. The annual output is expected to be 10 million pieces. Some 65,000 square meters of space within USI’s complex will be reserved for other businesses that may meet the needs of future customers.
Being placed in the dynamic growth region in the northern area, USI’s facility is expected to play a key role in promoting high-tech industries in Vietnam and creating a significant number of jobs for local residents. According to USI, the DEEP C IZ offers a strategic position with close proximity to the international airport, a deep seaport, and an extensive expressway network. The vision of DEEP C IZ to become Vietnam’s first eco-industrial park is also consistent with USI’s image as an environmentally friendly and sustainable electronics brand.
